"Hari Puttar" is coming to theaters in India on September 12, but if Warner Bros is successful with its lawsuit against the Indian film company producing the movie, it will be released under a different name.
Warner Bros owns the film rights to a series of books about a bespeckled boy wizard named Harry Potter. The title "Hari Puttar," it feels, violated the company's intellectual property.
The Indian studio begs to differ.
"... we registered the 'Hari Puttar' title in 2005 and it's unfortunate that Warner has chosen to file a case so close to our film's release. In my opinion, I don't think our title has any similarity or links with 'Harry Potter,' " Mirchi Movies CEO Munish Purii told the Hollywood Reporter.
