First the Malaysian government cancelled her concert, now they say she can go ahead with it. Why did they have to make things so complicated?
According to reports, the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party deemed Avril Lavigne's dance moves "too sexy" and not appropriate for its youths. And since the concert is on a date near Malaysia's Independence Day (Aug 31), the group pressured the government to cancel the show. The government did, but somehow the concert promoters were able to make its case to allow the show to go forward, something about the cancellation hurting tourism.
Capitalism triumphing once again.
