Box Office Underperformer "Rush Hour 3" Is Top DVD Rental of 2007

Rush Hour 3"Rush Hour 3," which underwhelmed at the box office, is the highest grossing DVD rental released in 2007, generating $71.2M in rental revenue according to data from Home Media Retailing. It out-performed such box office heavyweights as "Spider-Man 3," "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," and "Shrek the Third."

"Rush Hour 3", the third installment of the popular "Rush Hour" franchise starring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, grossed a disappointing $140M at the box office and was panned by critics when it was released late last summer. That probably dampered prospects for a fourth film, but it's surprising rental success could cause New Line Cinema, the studio behind the film, to revisit the idea.

Close behind in second place is Matt Damon's critically acclaimed and commercially successful spy thriller "The Bourne Ultimatum," which netted $69.7M in rental revenue. In third place is the Jamie Foxx and Jennifer Garner starrer "The Kingdom" with $66.4M, almost $19M more than its box office. Teen comedy "Superbad" and the Bruce Willis actioner "Live Free or Die Hard" are fourth and fifth, respectively.
