Since Peter Jackson is no longer attached to direct "The Hobbit" and its sequel, the movies couldn't have landed in a more capable hand. The LA Times reported that Guillermo del Toro will take over as director and will move to New Zealand for the next four years to work closely with Jackson and his production house WETA on the two movies, which will be shooting back-to-back.
You may know of del Toro's work from the Oscar-winning "Pan's Labyrinth." He has also directed "Hellboy" and "Blade II."
