Jackie Chan, the star of many action-packed movies in which he did his own stunts and had the injuries to prove it, made a visit to East Timor as Unicef's goodwill ambassador.
His message to the youths gathered to see him show off his moves is this:
"If you use martial arts to help somebody, you're the hero. If you use martial arts just on the street to fight somebody, even if you win you're not the hero - you're nobody."
Why did he say something like that to them? Most of the youths gathered belonged to some sort of martial arts groups, some of which were involved in a conflict two years earlier that left 37 dead and a tenth of the population driven from their homes.
