The Olympic Games is just not only an opportunity for countries to set aside their differences and engage each other in friendly games; it is also a prime opportunity for companies to advertise their brands.
Unfortunately, this year's host country is China. You may have heard something about China having issues with human rights, lead in toys, and Tibet to name a few.
Turns this year's Olympic Games is the perfect opportunity for pro-Tibet groups to bring their fight with China to the world stage. Caught in the middle are the sponsors of the Games and one such is Coca-Cola.
At its annual shareholder meeting this Wednesday, protesters picketed outside and gave Coke's CEO, E. Neville Isdell, a piece of their minds.
Isdell responded to them by say, "I don't believe that stopping the torch run is in any way over the long term going to be the right thing to do."
He added that Coca-Cola would be a long-term sponsor of the Games in the foreseeable future no matter which country is hosting.
