Watchmen Movie In Peril

Watchmen Who watches the watchers? Apparently, someone over at Fox is. Watching over their interest in potentially lucrative "Watchmen" movie, that is.

According to Variety, Fox is suing Warner Bros to stop WB from releasing "Watchmen," the forthcoming movie based on Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' graphic novel. A judge rules that the suit will go forward.

Fox says Warner Bros doesn't have the rights to the movie since the rights still belongs to them, under a 1994 agreement with producer Larry Gordon.

According to Variety, Fox wants to stop Warner Bros from releasing the movie all together rather than settling for a portion of the box office profits.

"When you have copyright infringement, there are some damages you never recover," said a source close to the litigation.

Of course, the two sides will settle. The question is how much will Warner Bros have to fork over.

"Watchmen" is scheduled for release on March 2, 2009.
